Title
Thawra.
Andrea Graziano And Tommaso Venturini are giving a workshop on adaptable housing solutions for people displaced by climate change, extreme events and crises, focusing on the design of easily assembled modular wood systems with flexible configurations. The workshop will move from digital design to 1:1 prototyping.
For FDW25 Matières Numériques has housed Post Industrial Crafts and Bits to Atoms under its vault for an exhibition on "The Uses of Digital Fabrication" (details).
There will be a day of collective assembly on a 3d printed cell structure of 15 meter, in April 2026 for volunteers, students, to experiment the reality of a 3d printed parametric vault structure. A free event, social, technical, inspiring, with a free lunch!
Matières Numériques is the continuity of BEIRUT MAKERS an association that produced 14 exhibitions exploring the changing potential of digital fabrication. Now in its second phase, Matières Numériques is now focusing towards universities and students while opening towards new materials, such as clay and raw earth. Here are a few projects held under MatNum's umbrella:
Here is a collection of funding logics which are directing the NGO
How we manufacture things is deeply influent, what we import and what we make locally has shaped our societies, Saint-Etienne is particularly aware of this fact.
Thanks to Digital fabrication white collars are reaching back maufacturing empowerement. Opening to new intentions to guide fabrication.
Digitla and robotic fabrication could be a valid direction for the Future only without sustainable practices.
Being a citizen is more than being a consumer, one need to access the potential of large scale digital manufactruing to challenge economical models, at design and architecture scales.
Students need to spend time with large robotic arms in order to get acustomed to their potential and integrate them into their future projects.
Lot of jobs are getting lost to internal competition, for some trades, using robotic can keep production within competitive prices to keep production local.
In coordination between creativity, computing and robotic fabrication, new methods, new crafts are to be invented, new processes and start-ups.
Matieres numeriques can provide space, advice and machines. Our inspiring large workshop and outdoors have great potential
We house workshops that are using digital fabrication techniques. We welcome educators both from universities or rpofessional practices.
A large space for creation at design and architectural scale, using sustainable, local, digital fabrication
The NGO gets free robot time from both companies Bits to Atoms and Post Industrial Crafts. This time can be shared within motivated, organized workshop around subjects that are within the curated vision of the association.
